With this being November, I’ve been spending most of my time working on my NaNo novel, still untitled as of this moment. I check out The Office of Letters and Light blog daily, since, well, it’s the official NaNoWriMo blog and full of all kinds of cool stuff. Today’s post is about Write or Die, a writing tool that’s a whole lot safer and more fun than it sounds. Go to the OLL link above for all the details.
Write or Die comes in two versions, the free online one and the new desktop version for only ten bucks. In a nutshell, this tool prompts you to write continuously for a set period of time or until you reach a word count goal. Depending on the setting you choose, stopping causes the screen to turn red, a message prompting you to type pops up, a rude noise sounds, or the sadistic one that starts literally eating your words. Yeah, I won’t be setting it to that one, but the weird noises are enough to keep my fingers flying over the keyboard. Did I mention the inventor of this device calls himself Dr. Wicked? Check out his blog for more info, and watch his video about all the new features on the desktop version.
I’m having fun with mine. Anybody else using Write or Die?
