Lauren Waters tagged me for Lucky Seven, and here are the rules:
1. Go to page 77 of your current MS/WIP
2. Go to line 7
3. Copy down the next 7 lines – sentences or paragraphs – and post them as they’re written. No cheating
4. Tag 7 authors
5. Let them know

Thanks Lauren, this should be fun!  Here’s my excerpt from my current WIP, The Queen of Schnapps.

~~~~~
She continued on for some time, then finally settled down around one o’clock in the morning.  Exhausted, depression washed over her once again, leaving her feeling drained and broken.  Tears slid down Judith’s face when she glanced at the shillelagh.  Why did everything she had have to be fucked up?
One thing, at least, was a great comfort to her.  She was very glad that she’d already added Mr. Harry Qualls’ name to her shit list because she was just too spent right now to have gone through the trouble.
Her new shillelagh in hand, she moped down the hall to bed.
If you’re reading this AND you want to have a go, then consider yourself tagged.  🙂
    I still can’t get over how much voice can come through in these random seven sentences. I get such a strong feeling of frustration/depression/ and hopelessness in this excerpt. And the title says it all!
  2. Thanks Lauren, 🙂
    Glad the voice came through. And yep, the MC has a touch of a drinking problem, especially a taste for schnapps. 🙂
  3. Well, I had to go look up that word – shillelagh – so I learned something new. I wonder if in this context it’s still some sort of cudgel. And of course, I’m wondering what on earth she’s doing with it.
