Killer Nashville 2014 was AWESOME!

The 9th Annual Killer Nashville writer’s conference was last weekend, and it was awesome! It’s always so much fun to connect with other writers and make new friends, but one of the best parts is listening to other authors in panels and workshops talk about writing.  It would be impossible not to be inspired.  Some of my favorite speakers were Jenna Bennett, Lee Goldberg (I got his autograph, since I’m a big fan of his work on Monk and the series he’s writing with Janet Evanovich), William Kent Krueger, Lisa Jackson, Kathleen Cosgrove, and Don Bruns.

I was on a Romantic Suspense panel (pictured above) with authors Daco Auffenorde and Mary Burton.  We discussed topics including pacing, the ratio of romance and suspense in our novels, conflict, and villains.

My daughter Amanda enjoyed the conference, since she has also caught the writing bug.  The picture below shows her standing in front of the window in our room at the Omni.  She and I ate at both restaurants and the coffee shop in the hotel–Kitchen Notes was our fav!–and visited the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Now I’m off to get started on all those books I added to my reading list.  Have you been to Killer Nashville?  I’m already looking forward to going back next year!
